Made by Hand, Inspired by the Hills

A working ceramics studio in Cocconato where handmade pieces — inspired by the colours and forms of the Monferrato landscape — are thrown, glazed and sold directly by the maker. No intermediary, no catalogue: everything is made in the studio and available to take home the same day. The palette of the pieces reflects the palette of the hills — terracotta reds, clay whites, the particular dusty green of vine leaves in August, the warm ochre of dry soil. The forms are functional rather than purely decorative, which is the right relationship between a piece of pottery and the hands that will use it.

There is something particular about buying directly from the person who made what you are buying — a different kind of transaction from the anonymous purchase, and one that makes the object carry a different weight when it arrives at its destination. Open Friday to Sunday; fifteen minutes from Bric del Vento. Everything sold is made in the studio; commissions are possible if you find something you want in a different form or colour.
