A "Smiling Hill" Estate

The name Poggio Ridente — "smiling hill" — describes both the property and the character of the wines: sun-drenched Barbera d'Asti and Grignolino made with genuine respect for the local terroir. A boutique Monferrato estate where quality over quantity has always been the guiding principle — small production volumes, careful vineyard management and a conviction that the expression of the land matters more than stylistic consistency across vintages. The Barbera from these slopes carries the warmth and acidity that the Astigiano at its best always delivers; the Grignolino is the lighter, more delicate expression of the Monferrato that is so often undervalued.

The vineyards are tended with the kind of attention that shows in the glass — which is the only place where it ultimately matters. Visits are by appointment and we at the villa can make the introduction, which is the easiest way to arrange a visit. Contact us before your stay or during it and we will connect you with the people at the estate directly.
