Barbaresco DOCG by the Glass, al Fresco

A panoramic all-outdoor terrace at the foot of the medieval Barbaresco tower, overlooking one of the most celebrated vineyard landscapes in Italy — the UNESCO Langhe hills that produce Barbaresco DOCG, Nebbiolo at its most structured and age-worthy. The bistrot serves Barbaresco by the glass alongside local charcuterie, cheeses and simple dishes, which is exactly the right way to approach one of the world's great wines: without ceremony, in the open air, in sight of the vineyards where it was grown.

Worth combining with a drive through the Langhe — Barolo country is 20 minutes further south, and a day that moves from the Monferrato hills through Barbaresco to Barolo is one of the more satisfying days available in this part of Piemonte. Open in season from spring through autumn; outdoor only, so weather is a factor. No reservation required. About 50 minutes from Bric del Vento.
